I am grateful for revelation, Holy Spirit!

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:13

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Me: Good morning, Holy Spirit!

Holy Spirit: Good morning, Jon!

Me: This work of Yours, “revealing the deep things of God”, is mysteriously awesome in that it is done completely in the open, yet reserved only for those who love and trust You enough to take what You say by faith over their five senses and human wisdom. And what mysteries! Things that would not even enter my mind, were it not revealed by You!

Holy Spirit: Faith implies you also must be fine with being considered foolish and hateful for believing what I Am telling you.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 15:18-19

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6


Me: Thank You Holy Spirit! The name calling of the world is inconsequential compared to the glory of knowing You! I love You!

Holy Spirit! You are welcome! I love you!

  2. Amen. Good word for this day, Jon. These riches that are ours in Christ Jesus, “reserved only for those who love and trust You enough to take what You say by faith over their five senses and human wisdom.” — There is no greater treasure than God Himself “revealing the deep things of God.” Yes, thank you Holy Spirit. Keep us faithful in our listening to You.

  3. We are “the aroma of Christ” – the aroma of life to those who are being saved, but the stench of death to those who are perishing. In other words , if we follow Him, and if we’re doing it right, we’ll be like Him, and we’ll be hated by those who hate Him. And we have to be OK with that. (It helps to remind myself of that often.)

  4. YES!! I love this, thank you for sharing it. Psalm 25:14 in The Passion Translation (or interpretation, however you wish to view it) says it this way: “There’s a private place reserved for the devoted lovers of Yahweh, where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets of his promises.” Amen

    1. Thanks Gregory! And a happy new year to you and your bride. (And all the folks at Opal’s Farm.) The barn needs painting, but it is kinda photogenic. The contractor said it would take $30k to put a good foundation back under it, and as much as I want to save it, that just seems out of the ballpark.

    1. As much as I struggle to wrap my mind around the (supposedly mundane) aspects of the Creator’s work that we can see now, it is surely hard to imagine what it will be like then.

      I read some powerful pieces on your blog yesterday, one about the worth of the individual and evil profit taking (from us) around fetal cell experimentation. And another about our place in building in the degrading culture (based on Jeremiah’s word to Israel in Babylon). I would have left you a comment or two, but I think comments may have been closed. So, just let me say here that they were moving and well written and much needed in our day. As I was reading both posts, I was reminded that we, as a people, suffer from the fall and that falling bodies accelerate downward at the gravitational constant per second, per second. Little wonder Paul talked of our need to stand in the evil day in Ephesians 6. God bless you, Nancy!
