Steve, it was dimly visible to the naked eye at the time I took the picture. They were brighter about 30 minutes earlier, but I was driving at the time.
I saw them in southern Nebraska very clearly to the naked eye on Tuesday evening. We live in a little neighborhood outside of town but decided to drive about 5 miles north thinking we would get a better view, but there were too many lights from farm operations. We ended up coming back to our house and thought of our pasture ground! It was there we saw them the best!! So awesome!!
Beautiful!!

Iowa beats Ohio. I’m about 39.2 degrees north – looks like you’re closer to Santa and the north pole. Very nice pic. Visible to the naked eye?

41.4 degrees N here. Not a lot of difference.

I had to go to Alaska in 1972 to see Northern Lights! Wondering where the farthest southern point is that they have been seen!?ðŸ¤

I saw them in Eastern New Mexico in about 1962 (at 4000 ft).
